Ingredients
-
2 Tbsp
-
2 Tbspdried thyme leaves
-
2 Tbspdried rosemary leaves
-
2 Tbspdried sage
-
1turkey (12 to 16 lb.)
-
½ cupbutter, melted
-
4celery stalks, cut into large pieces
-
4carrots, cut into large pieces
-
2navel oranges, quartered
-
2onions, quartered
-
6garlic cloves
-
1 cupchicken broth
Directions
Heat the oven to 325°F.
Remove the giblets and neck from the turkey cavity. Discard or reserve the giblets and neck for making the stuffing.
Combine the thyme, rosemary, sage and Chicken Allrounder. Set aside.
Place the turkey, breast side up, on a rack in a roasting pan. Brush the melted butter all over the turkey, including under the skin.
Sprinkle the herb mixture evenly over the entire turkey, making sure to coat both the inside and outside of the turkey.
Stuff the cavity of the turkey with the celery, carrots, oranges, onions and garlic. Use kitchen twine to tie the turkey legs together to hold the stuffing in place.
Roast the turkey for 13 to 15 minutes per pound or until the turkey is done (165°F) when tested with a meat thermometer, basting the turkey with the pan drippings every 30 minutes.
Remove the turkey from the oven. Cover it loosely with foil, then let it stand for 20 to 30 minutes before carving to serve.
The standing time allows the hot turkey juices to redistribute in the cooked meat resulting in easier carving of the turkey.
